Editorial: Support School Choice Week to help all kids

We live in a world of inequality, and it’s an intractable circumstance. We see it in the way people look, the ability of individuals to think and problem-solve, divergent socioeconomic plights, good luck and bad luck, and more.

In one aspect of life, society has found a relatively affordable and efficient way to even playing fields between rich and poor. It’s called school choice.

States that facilitate charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, home schooling, vouchers and online curriculums have created free markets of competition that lower costs and improve outcomes.

In Colorado Springs, we are doubly blessed because of the nonprofit known as Parents Challenge. Founded by businessman Steve Schuck and his wife, Joyce, the organization empowers low-income families with tools, information and financial support to help them leverage the benefits of school choice.
