Pair of extremely close Wyoming legislative races heading to recount

The results in two Wyoming legislative races in Tuesday’s primary election are so close that they’re subject to mandatory recounts.

Unofficial results show Republican Bill Henderson leading Republican Patrick Fitzgerald by a single vote in the House District 41 race in Cheyenne. The results show Henderson with 583 votes to 582 for Fitzgerald.

In the Senate District 6 race in southeastern Wyoming, unofficial results show Republican Anthony Bouchard leading Republican David Zwonitzer by four votes, 1,137 to 1,134.

Will Dinneen is public information and communications officer at the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office. He says the two races are subject to mandatory recount.

Top state officials are set to meet as the state’s canvassing board to certify statewide election results on Aug. 24.
