Colorado voters fill 3 seats for University of Colorado Board of Regents
Colorado voters on Nov. 5 decided the fate of three seats open on the nine-member University of Colorado Board of Regents.
The University of Colorado Board of Regents consists of nine members serving staggered six-year terms, one elected from each of Colorado’s eight congressional districts and one from the state at large.
For the at-large seat, Democrat Elliott Hood cruised to victory over Republican opponent Eric Rinard.
In an email statement, Hood said, “I am extremely proud to be elected as the next CU Regent At-Large. Running for Regent, and connecting with voters across Colorado, has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life.”
He added: “We could not have achieved this victory without the support of my family, my amazing campaign staff, and everyone who donated, volunteered, and advocated for this campaign. For me, this is a dream job, and I look forward to joining the Board of Regents and working with my colleagues to create a more affordable, accessible, and sustainable CU System.”
This was the only statewide seat for the Board of Regents, and some 3.8 million voters cast a ballot in the race.
Meanwhile, Republican Ray Scott defeated Democratic challenger Robert Logan in District 3, according to the latest unofficial results.
The district covers most of Colorado’s Western Slope and parts of Southern Colorado, including Pueblo County and the San Luis Valley. Its major cities are Grand Junction, Pueblo, Durango and Aspen.
In District 5, which covers nearly all of El Paso County, including Colorado Springs, Republican Ken Montera defeated Democratic challenger Axel Brown, according to the unofficial results.
