Denver International Airport leaders anticipate that the Denver City Council will approve resolutions for three large airport contracts totaling more than $248 million.  

The council will consider a $135 million, 10-year program management agreement for the North Terminal Expansion and an $83.3 million contract for operations and maintenance of DIA’s Individual Carrier System, a high-speed automated baggage-handling network that uses individual totes to increase bag traceability and screening.

The council will also consider a $30 million contract for the airport’s train and automated guideway transit system revitalization program to help move passengers through the airport more efficiently.

Among bills to be introduced is a $55 million contract with Denver Health and Hospital Authority to provide healthcare services for people in custody at the Denver County Jail and the Downtown Detention Center.

Denver voters could see a public safety charter question on the November ballot.

The council is expected to take a final vote on a pair of bills that aim to modernize Denver’s civil service rules for police and fire employees.

The first is Council Bill 26-1048, which would ask voters to approve structural changes such as hiring qualifications, probation periods, discipline timelines and other administrative items.

The companion bill, Council Bill 26-1055, supplies the detailed operational rules if voters say yes.

There are no proclamations scheduled and no required or courtesy public hearings on the agenda.

The Denver City Council’s regular meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Cathy Reynolds City Council Chamber, with the general public comment session beginning at 5 p.m.
