$63 million in ergo furniture, fire code updates on Denver council agenda
Denver City Council kicks off the shortened Thanksgiving holiday week with no required public hearings, but with a full agenda on Monday, beginning with a presentation on the new city budget.
As a reminder, most city agencies will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Other agencies may have impacted hours. Agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport, and sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments will continue to be available.
Many offices will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 28, due to the citywide furlough, but the city will resume normal operations Monday, Dec.1.
First, the council will consider resolutions consenting to Mayor Mike Johnston’s appointment of Brad Buchanan as Executive Director of the city’s Department of Community Planning and Development, Adrina Gibson as Executive Director of General Services, Miko Ando Brown as City Attorney, Elise Topliss to the Board of Ethics, and Al Gardner as Executive Director of Safety.
Along with multiple resolutions to amend contracts for housing and services at non-congregate homeless shelters, the council will consider eight proposed master purchase orders totaling close to $63 million for ergonomic furniture, accessories, citywide installation, and the relocation of existing furniture.
The resolutions to watch are 25-1801, 25-1802, 25-1803, 25-1804, 25-1805, 25-1806, 25-1807, and 25-1809.
Elsewhere on the agenda, an ordinance on final consideration would amend the city code and introduce allowances for 5-story single stair buildings and state-required wildland-urban fire interface provisions into Denver’s building and fire code amendments.
It also makes a number of other revisions to support building projects by extending expiration timeframes, easing barriers to adaptive reuse, simplifying neighbor notification options, and coordinating cross-departmental requirements.
There is one proclamation scheduled for the 3:30 p.m. session recognizing the 100th anniversary of The Denver Foundation.
The Denver City Council will hold its regular meeting on Monday at 3:30 p.m., with the general public comment session scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
