ARAPAHOE COMMUNITY COLLEGE is hosting an exciting art show this year.
Littleton
News: Pieces of art worth thousands of dollars can be purchased for $150, or less, at the 14th Affordable Arts Festival taking place Aug. 24 at Arapahoe Community College, 5900 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton.
Proceeds from the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. event go to the Arapahoe Community College Foundation Scholarship Fund. Since its inception, the festival, said to be the fastest-growing arts festival in Colorado, has generated $320,000 for the scholarship fund.
The festival also has been ranked as the No. 1 art festival in the country by Sunshine Artist Magazine.
Admission is $12, with free entry for those aged 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, or in advance by visiting www.AffordableArtsFestival.com
Two thousand free parking spaces will be available on and off campus and a team of golf cart drivers will be available to assist patrons in getting their purchases to their cars.
“People love to come to the festival to purchase incredible artwork from professional artists for less than $150, while supporting the goals and ambitions of Arapahoe Community College students,” said Jim DeLutes, the festival’s founder and director. “This is artwork that would typically be sold for many times the amount the artists are asking, and it’s an effective way for them to sell a lot of art in just a few hours … in a friendly, unintimidating place.”
Paintings, glass, clay, sculpture, metalwork, photography, mixed media, fiber and wood — some of which would ordinarily sell for up to $4,000 – can be found at the 160-plus booths set up at the festival.
“The level of activity between the artists and attendees contributes greatly to the highly energized level of enthusiasm and fun,” DeLutes adds.
One hundred percent of the ticket sales go to the ACC Foundation Scholarship Fund, and whatever that generates will be matched by the Colorado Opportunity Initiative.
About the organization: The Arapahoe Community College Foundation works to advance the mission of the college by providing financial assistance and opportunities to students; encouraging public support for the college, and strengthening the teaching, learning and cultural environment of the college and its community.
