Jordan touts GOP reconciliation bill’s ‘common sense’: ‘The Left hates it’

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) predicted the One Big Beautiful Bill Act will pass the Senate because of its four key “commonsense” conservative pillars.

The reconciliation legislation recently passed in the House and now heads to the Senate for amendments and a vote. Republican senators have criticized it on issues that include the deficitMedicaid changes, and energy credits. The Senate can only afford to lose three votes to ensure the bill passes.

“I think it will pass. Can we achieve some more savings? I’m all for that. I think the president is for that. I think all Republicans are,” Jordan said on Fox News’s Fox and Friends Monday. “You know it’s a good bill cause the Left hates it. The Left hates it cause it has core, commonsense, Republican principles in it. It cut taxes, it secures the border. It says if you’re an able-bodied adult and getting welfare, you’re gonna have to work. It says to moms and dads, ‘We got school choice in here. We know you are the best one to pick where your daughter is going to get the best education.'”

The lower chamber’s version of the bill is roughly 1,000 pages long. A Senate version has yet to be released but is expected soon.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) advised the Senate to “fine-tune this product as little as possible.”

HOUSE REPUBLICAN CLAIMS SENATE CRITICS OF ‘BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL’ ARE ‘SHORTSIGHTED’

However, President Donald Trump has recommended Senate Republicans do the opposite, saying, “I want the Senate and the senators to make the changes they want.”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) claimed to know four Republican senators prepared to vote against the “big, beautiful bill.” However, he said he is not one of them.
