Trump to invite Super Bowl champions to White House

The Philadelphia Eagles will be invited to the White House.

After nearly two days of controversies surrounding the contents of an article published in the Sun over two weeks ago, President Donald Trump announced he would extend an invitation to the 2025 Super Bowl champions to visit the White House later in the year. Trump revealed the news during a press conference on Tuesday when a reporter asked if the team would be invited.

“They will be,” Trump said. “We haven’t yet, but we will be. I thought it was a great performance by them. Absolutely, they’ll be extended an invitation. We’ll do it right away. We’ll do it sometime today. They deserve to be down here, and we hope to see them.”

The president asked a staffer to start working on preparing the invite immediately.

The invite controversy with the Eagles started on Sunday after reports surfaced that the team would not accept an invitation from Trump to attend the White House, based on the aforementioned article in the Sun.

“We represent a city and a state that is pushing for equal rights, respect, and values that respect every human being,” an anonymous Eagles player supposedly told the publication. “We won’t forget what happened and the criticism we received for taking a stand against racism, and we won’t back down from our values of respect, integrity, and equality.”

The article then cites the Eagles’ decision to skip visiting Trump in the White House after the franchise won the Super Bowl in 2018. However, only a few players remain from that year’s team, and the perception and dynamic seem quite different in 2025.

DON’T BELIEVE THE STORY ABOUT THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES SKIPPING A WHITE HOUSE VISIT

On Monday afternoon, multiple reports claimed the Eagles had intended to visit the White House and that they “looked forward” to being invited.

“The #Eagles would be honored to visit The White House, team sources say after conversations today,” Ian Rapoport, a national insider for NFL Network, posted on his X account. “It’s one of the aspects of winning they are excited about and look forward to receiving the invitation.”
