WATCH LIVE: Republican candidates for Colorado’s 4th District debate

Republican candidates vying to succeed former U.S. Rep. Ken Buck in the 4th Congressional District will debate tonight.

Watch it here:

9NEWS and Colorado Politics are hosting the debate among six Republican hopefuls. The event will be broadcast live on 9NEWS (KUSA-TV in Denver) from 6 to 7 p.m., as well as live-streamed on 9NEWS.com and the 9NEWS YouTube channel.

It will also be live-streamed on coloradopolitics.com and denvergazette.com

The debate is moderated by 9NEWS journalists Kyle Clark and Marshall Zelinger, with additional questions from Colorado Politics Editor Luige Del Puerto.

A heavily Republican district, the 4th CD covers portions of Weld County, Douglas County and all of eastern Colorado. Communities in the district include Loveland, Windsor, Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, Parker, Sterling, Fort Morgan, Limon, Burlington and Lamar.

Following Buck’s decision to retire and then vacate the seat, a slew of Republicans entered the race to take his place.

The contenders include Colorado U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, who currently represents the 3rd Congressional District but who decided to run in the 4th CD. Also running in the GOP primary are former state Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg, state Reps. Mike Lynch and Richard Holtorf, former talk radio host and nonprofit founder Deborah Flora and business consultant Peter Yu.

Meanwhile, three Democrats are seeking their party’s nomination in the solidly red 4th CD. And, in a simultaneous special election, voters in the district will also elect someone to fill the remainder of Buck’s term through the end of the year, choosing between Trisha Calvarese, Republican Greg Lopez, Libertarian Hannah Goodman and Approval Voting Party nominee Frank Attwood.
