Gov. Polis announces $3.5 million in grants for Colorado land and water conservation

An additional $3.5 million in grant funding has been allocated to various programs as the state continues to prioritize protecting Colorado’s wildlife and outdoor recreation.
On Tuesday, Gov. Jared Polis, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Great Outdoors Colorado announced five new grant recipients for the Outdoor Regional Partnerships Initiative. Established in 2021, the initiative provides funding to regional coalitions that work to preserve Colorado’s lands, waters and wildlife.
“Colorado’s collaborative approach to conservation and recreation is something to be proud of,” said Jackie Miller, the executive director for Great Outdoors Colorado. “This next round of Regional Partnerships funding invests in both new and existing coalitions whose expertise and passion will help us chart a path for our state’s future.”
The new grant recipients bring the total number of Outdoor Regional Partnerships to 18, covering about 70% of the state. The five new grant recipients include:
- Eastern Grasslands Coalition
- NoCo Places
- Outside 285
- Spanish Peaks Outdoor Coalition
- Summit County Outdoor Coalition
Another round of grant funding will be available in the spring.
