Silt police called to incident involving Lauren Boebert and ex-husband

Silt police were called to an incident involving U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, on Saturday night, authorities confirmed.
In a statement to Colorado Politics on Sunday, the two-term Republican denied punching her ex-husband.
“This is a sad situation for all that keeps escalating and another reason I’m moving,” Boebert said in a text message, via a spokesman. “I didn’t punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested. I will be consulting with my lawyer about the false claims he made against me and evaluate all of my legal options.”
The incident occurred at the Miner’s Claim restaurant at 740 Main St. in Silt, police said.
Silt Police Chief Mike Kite confirmed to The Denver Gazette that “Boebert and her ex-husband, Jayson, were involved” and said that there is surveillance video from the restaurant, as well as 911 dispatch records, though that information was not released because Saturday’s incident is an ongoing investigation.
“We are treating this case no differently than we would anyone else,” he said.
The eight-person force will be conducting interviews with witnesses and asking for anyone with iPhone video of the incident to contact them, he said, adding there is an incident report.
Boebert filed for divorce from Jayson Boebert, her then-husband of nearly 18 years, in May, citing “irreconcilable differences.” She called the announcement “difficult” and said she doesn’t intend to discuss the matter further in public.
The divorce was finalized in October. Boebert and Jayson Boebert married in 2005. They have four sons and a grandson.
The congresswoman announced last week that she would not seek reelection in the 3rd Congressional District. Instead, she is jumping to Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, where she is now one of 11 Republicans running for the seat held by retiring U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, a Windsor Republican serving his fifth term. Anchored by Douglas County, the 4th CD covers Colorado’s Eastern Plains and is the state’s most reliably Republican district.
Prior to her surprise switch, Boebert was facing a competitive primary and general election in the Western Slope-based 3rd CD, where she won reelection in 2022 by fewer than 600 votes.
In September, Boebert generated international headlines for weeks after being escorted by security from a performance of “Beetlejuice: The Musical” in Denver for “causing a disturbance.”
Although the lawmaker initially shrugged it off – admitting only to snapping a photo with her cell phone and “laughing and singing too loud!” – Boebert later issued an apology after surveillance video obtained by 9News showed her vaping during the performance and wagging her finger at theater staff on the way out.
