Pueblo might be known as the Steel City, but it is also home to the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturing plant.

It is that manufacturing presence that is drawing President Joe Biden, Gov.Jared Polis and other officials to visit the CS Wind turbine tower manufacturing facility Wednesday in Pueblo.

CS Wind, a South Korean-based company, owns the plant located in southeast Pueblo County at 100 Tower Road, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown. The plant is the world’s largest producer of wind turbine towers and is the only American facility owned by CS Wind.

President Joe Biden said Tuesday night at a fundraiser in Cherry Hills Village that Donald Trump’s record of rolling back abortion rights and recent vow to revamp the national healthcare system spell defeat for the likely Republican nominee in next year’s election.

“Donald Trump’s about to find out the power of women in America in 2024,” Biden told donors, according to a pool report, adding that since the former president came off the sidelines, “We haven’t stopped winning and he hasn’t stopped losing.”

“The only reason a fundamental right has been stripped away from the American people is Donald Trump,” Biden said.

U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert greeted Biden’s impending visit earlier Tuesday by criticizing the administration and Biden’s policies.

“Families in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District are being crushed by so-called ‘Bidenomics,'” she said in a statement.

“On Joe Biden’s watch, credit card debt, inflation, groceries, and gas prices have all reached record highs. These high prices are squeezing working-class Coloradans and rural America. Rather than cutting wasteful federal spending and unleashing American energy production, Joe Biden continues to pander to radical extremists, lock up more land, and spend his time focused on campaign stunts and vacations rather than doing the job he was elected to do,” she said.

Conor Cahill, the press secretary, has been named communications director, replacing Maria De Cambra, who will become executive director of the Department of Local Affairs next Monday.

Shelby Wieman will replace Cahill as press secretary.

A federal judge concluded last month that a Lakewood police sergeant did not violate a man’s constitutional rights by shooting and killing him while trying to evacuate him from a burning basement.

Jason Waterhouse was behaving erratically when he barricaded himself in the basement of his sister’s home, then started a fire while officers attempted to coax him out. As police went inside to extricate him from the blaze, Waterhouse ran out of his hiding spot.

Although multiple officers did not recall Waterhouse having a weapon, Sgt. Marc Direzza “perceived” Waterhouse to be holding something and shot him. Waterhouse died from his injury.

R. Stanton Dodge, chief legal officer at DraftKings, is the newest member of the National Western Stock Show Association board of directors. A longtime supporter of the National Western, Dodge also serves as vice chairman of the Honoring the Legacy campaign, which to date has raised $108 million for the development of the new National Western Center.

The campaign’s eventual goal is $150 million.

“Stanton brings a wealth of legal and business acumen to our board of directors,” said WSSA board chair Doug Jones. “His deep knowledge of the National Western and his role in the ambitious National Western Center development put him in a position to contribute substantially in short order.”
