Department of Human Services announces two grants to support child care providers

A $35 million relief grant will soon be available for child care providers across the state at the end of the month, following an announcement of two new grants by the Colorado Department of Human Services.
Child care providers that are currently operating or planning to reopen by Feb. 28 will be eligible for the funds.
“The Child Care Relief Grant Program will provide much-needed support to child care providers across Colorado, who have given incredible support to families during the pandemic,” Mary Alice Cohen, the director of the Office of Early Childhood said in a release. “Despite the vital role they play in our economy, child care businesses have suffered in the pandemic. This funding will help providers keep their doors open, and ensure families do not lose their child care.”
Grants will range from $500 to $35,000, and each awarded amount will be determined on the provider’s capacity and quality level, CDHS officials said
In addition to the original $35 million grant program, an additional $10 million grant will become available to child care providers later this year.
Anyone with questions about the grants, including eligibility or the application process, are encouraged to contact the Office of Early Childhood cdhs_oec_communications@state.co.us or find more information here.
