Colorado Department of Agriculture launches photography contest

The Colorado Department of Agriculture on Thursday launched the 2020 “Best in Show” photography contest, celebrating the spirit of Colorado agriculture, the department said.

Photographers of all skill levels are invited to participate in the contest. Photos must be related to Colorado agriculture including crops, livestock, farmers’ markets, people, harvest and more.

The Best in Show contest has been held annually for more than 20 years.

“Colorado is a massive state, covering 66.3 million acres — and nearly half of that land is farmland,” the department said. “We want to highlight our vibrant agriculture industry in every corner and every community, and photographers statewide are valuable partners.”

First place receives a reward of $175, second place gets $150 and third place gets $100. Other rewards and honorable mentions may be awarded.

Professionals in the fields of communications and agriculture will judge the entries on theme, creativity and technical quality.

The photos must be taken in Colorado within the 2020 calendar year. Only digital photographs related to agriculture will be accepted.

Entries are due by midnight on Dec. 31, 2020. Winners will be announced in January 2021.

Complete entry guidelines and submission forms are available at colorado.gov.
