Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren on Friday won more endorsements from Colorado lawmakers and other officials, including state Senate Majority Leader Steve Fenberg and state Reps. Daneya Esgar and Meg Froelich, her campaign announced.

“We need a leader with thoughtful ideas and bold solutions that will improve our everyday lives,” said Fenberg, a Boulder Democrat, in a statement.

“Elizabeth Warren has detailed plans to level the playing field for all families – and she has what it takes to get the job done. She understands that real change is only possible when you have a plan and a unified party to make it happen.”

Warren, one of eight major Democrats on the ballot in Colorado’s March 3 Super Tuesday presidential primary, also received endorsements from Broomfield City Council Members Sharon Tessier and Heidi Henkel, Boulder County Commissioner Matt Jones, and former state Sen. Andy Kerr of Lakewood.

According to to a poll released Thursday, Warren is in second place in Colorado behind Bernie Sanders among likely Democratic primary voters.

The new endorsements bring to 13 the number of Colorado legislators supporting Warren. State Sen. Kerry Donovan of Vail, who was first to throw her support behind the Massachusetts senator, introduced Warren at a rally that drew about 4,000 people to a Denver concert venue last Sunday. 

“Elizabeth Warren will unite us around our core values, and fight to make our country work for working people,” said Froelich, an Englewood resident, in a statement.

Esgar, who represents parts of Pueblo County, hailed Warren’s “bold vision for an America that works for everyone” in a statement.

“I know she will fight tooth and nail to empower workers, secure LGBTQ+ rights, and keep public lands in public hands – and I’m excited to fight alongside her,” Esgar said.

U.S. Rep. Deb Haaland of New Mexico, a national co-chair of Warren’s campaign, was campaigning for Warren in the metro area on Friday and Saturday.
