Colorado College students will receive free tickets for Bustang, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s bus service along Interstate 25 and Interstate 70, thanks to the school’s student government association.

“This will provide CC students with another means to travel home if they’re from other areas of the state, like the northern Front Range and the Grand Junction area,” said Bustang’s operations manager, Michael Timlin. “If a CC student needs to travel south, they can connect with Bustang Outrider to connect with Pueblo and other areas of southeast and south-central Colorado.”

The student government association purchased bulk discounted tickets, and they are now available upon presentation of a student identification at the Worner Desk in the central information center. The announcement follows the association’s 2017 use of activity funds for the College Pass, which allows students to use their identification cards for free trips on the Mountain Metro bus system in Colorado Springs.

As of June 2018, Bustang’s ridership was 17,000 passengers per month, approximately one-third of whom rode the Denver to Colorado Springs corridor.

“Bustang represents the next step in CCSGA’s work towards providing students access to public transit,” said student body President Ethan Greenberg. “We hope that this partnership both helps the students who already ride the Bustang reduce their costs and the students who would otherwise drive or simply not travel.”
