MyBizColorado wins 2019 Government Experience Award

Colorado’s website for small business filing won a 2019 Government Experience Award on Wednesday.

MyBizColorado allows startups to register for sales tax licenses, wage withholding accounts and unemployment insurance accounts in one digital place, rather than navigating through each department.

The website also offers user guides about starting small businesses, written by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade and the Colorado Small Business Development Center.

“This award is a testament to the impressive results achieved when government agencies partner to deliver convenient, reliable, and innovative products for Colorado residents, and in this case, small business owners,” said Dr. Theresa Szczurek, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Information Technology.

Jack Arrowsmith, executive director of the Statewide Internet Portal Authority, said that the project was self-funded.

“We are honored to play a role, alongside our partners at the Governor’s Office of Information Technology, in the development of this wonderful tool, which provides the state’s simplest path forward to opening a business,” Arrowsmith said.

Szczurek and Arrowsmith will accept the award at a private event Friday.
