Denver Mayor Michael Hancock plans to unveil the first budget of his third term Monday, his office announced Friday.

“Mayor Hancock’s proposal reflects the priorities and values of Denver residents to solidify Denver as an equitable, modern and progressive 21st century city,” the statement said.

“The budget proposal will advance the Hancock administration’s work to build an economy that works for everyone – where everyone has access to an affordable home, a job, and a future; advance progressive ideals that champion people, equity, and social justice; and create a city where every neighborhood has a high quality of life, with libraries and parks, with good schools, with plenty of mobility options, and communities that are safe.”

A news conference is planned at the City and County Building, where the city’s chief financial officer, Brendan Hanlon, and budget director, Stephanie Adams, are expected to brief reporters.

Last year, Hancock proposed a 588-page spending plan that sought $1.46 billion, with a premium on safety net programs, $50 million for affordable housing proposals and $27 million for bike lanes, pedestrian access and other mobility projects.

The City Council approved Hancock’s requests in November.
