The Pueblo Chieftain: Pueblo County’s new manager

Sabina Genesio was introduced to the public this week as Pueblo County’s new manager and she quickly outlined a no-nonsense approach to her new job. She described her mantra as being “on time, on budget and on purpose.”

“The ‘on purpose’ part is just making sure we ask the question: Are we doing things because we’ve always done it?” Genesio said during her first county commission meeting as manager. “That doesn’t make sense. I like to ask: Is there a better way to do it?”

Those certainly are encouraging words. It’s nice to see that commissioners have hired someone who isn’t necessarily committed to preserving the status quo in all aspects of county government’s operations. As she delves into her new job, Genesio may find areas that are in need of reform.
