The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: Give back the giveback?

The phrase “giving back to the community” usually describes a philanthropic gesture meant to convey gratitude.

The owner of a family-centric business, for example, donates playground equipment to a public park as a way of telling patrons “we wouldn’t have succeeded without your support.” Or a high school graduate gives back to the after-school program that nurtured his college aspirations by volunteering there as a tutor.
