The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: Collaboration benefits students, employers

Former Gov. John Hickenlooper was big on equipping the state’s high school students with the skills they need to compete for tomorrow’s jobs without forcing them to go the traditional – and expensive – route of obtaining a four-year college degree.

To that end Hickenlooper helped advance CareerWise – a statewide apprenticeship program – and P-TECH, which gives students the opportunity to earn a free associate degree in a STEM-focused high-growth industry.
