The Pueblo Chieftain: Cop cooperation
We think the Pueblo Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have a good history of working together. Exhibit A of that cooperation is the Safe Streets Task Force, which has an admirable track record of bringing dangerous criminal suspects to justice.
So we’re very pleased that the FBI will be sharing office space at police headquarters. Earlier this month, the Pueblo City Council approved an agreement allowing the FBI to use about 200 square feet of space in the South Main Street building.
The FBI will pay for any required modifications, so the cost to local taxpayers is negligible. Yet the benefits for local crime-fighting efforts could be substantial. Pueblo police will be able to access FBI computers from that location, rather than driving to Colorado Springs. The information-sharing arrangement should help the two agencies generate leads and identify suspects faster.
