WATCH: Reporters re-examine Matthew Shepard’s story 20 years after his death

On Oct. 26, the ashes of Matthew Shepard will be interred at the Washington National Cathedral.

Twenty years ago, on Oct. 6, 1998, the college student from Wyoming was found beaten nearly to death, tied to a fence in Laramie. He later died at hospital in Colorado and became a symbol of deadly violence against gay people.

Kyle Clark recently spoke with two reporters from The Coloradoan for their perspectives on the impact of Shepard’s death, two decades later. Watch the video below.
