Colorado political consulting firms take home Reed Awards for campaign work

Three Colorado political consulting firms recently took home Reed Awards honoring their work producing campaign material last year.

The awards, sponsored by Campaigns & Elections magazine and named for the political journal’s founder, Stanley Foster Reed, were handed out at a conference on Feb. 27 in Charleston, South Carolina. They recognized work in a multitude of categories, including direct mail, campaign branding and TV and digital ads.

EIS Solutions and its sister Ascent Media firm won three of the awards, all involving TV ads – one for a an ad slamming U.S. Rep. Jared Polis’ involvement in Greeley City Council elections, another for an ad touting wind power and a third a wind ad that had the best use of drone footage.

RBI Strategies & Research won for best newspaper ad for a message about Colorado’s love for strong beer and its public lands.

Boulder Strategies won for its logo and branding work for the Rocky Mountain Wolf Project.

A number of Colorado companies were finalists for awards, including the winners – EIS Strategies, Ascent Media, RBI Strategies & Research and Boulder Strategies – and 4degre.es and Blitz Canvassing.

Here are the Colorado winners:

In the category Best TV Ad for an IE – Local, County, or Municipal, EIS Strategies and Ascent Media won for “No thanks, Boulder. No thanks, Polis,” a TV ad that blasted the wealthy Boulder congressman’s spending in Greeley municipal elections.

In the category Best TV Ad for Public Affairs/Issue Advocacy Campaign – National, Ascent Media won for “True American Power” for American Wind Action. View that ad here.

In the category Best Use of Drone Footage in a TV Ad, Ascent Media won for “Veterans Powering America,” also for American Wind Action. View that ad here.

In the category Best Newspaper Ad For Public Affairs/Issue Advocacy Campaign, RBI Strategies & Research won for “A Message to Outdoor Retailers from Colorado,” for Conservation Colorado. The ad was aimed at luring the Outdoor Retailer Show to Colorado from Utah after its sponsoring group became dissatisfied with the way Utah was treating public lands. (The campaign succeeded, and the winter version of the massive trade show debuted in Denver in January.)

In the category Best Campaign Logo & Branding – Organization/PAC, Boulder Strategies won for its logo and brand identity for the Rocky Mountain Wolf Project.
