The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: If arming teachers isn’t the answer, what is?

Once the president voiced support for training teachers to carry guns as a way to deter school shootings, our reporting staff saw fit to ask local law enforcement and school officials if they concurred.

It’s not a preposterous proposition – especially in isolated rural areas that lack a strong law enforcement presence – but the local consensus is that District 51 schools are best served by letting teachers focus on teaching and leaving the gun-toting to experienced professionals.
