The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: A boom or a break?

Booms may not always be followed by a bust, but upticks in economic activity – whether in the gas fields, the tech sector or the local real estate market – usually have a limited duration because they’re fueled by demand.

Demand is a void in the marketplace that attracts investment with magnetic force. But the rush to fill the vacuum inevitably satisfies the demand. Production scales back and, before we know it, the boom is over. We’re well familiar with how this cycle plays out in western Colorado.
