The Pueblo Chieftain: Why not Pueblo?
Brace yourselves for this one, Puebloans.
United States Sen. Cory Gardner and U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton have filed a bill that could lead to the relocation of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management headquarters from Washington, D.C., to a Western state. Specifically, the bill would direct the U.S. Department of Interior to develop a strategy and a timeline for the relocation.
Since most federally owned lands are west of the Mississippi River, it would make sense to move BLM’s main office closer to the heart of its operations. And Tipton and Gardner’s bill might have a decent chance of becoming law, if for no other reason than U.S. Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke has supported the relocation publicly.
