The Pueblo Chieftain: Don’t quit on trash regs

Last week, the Pueblo City Council decided to drop a proposed ordinance that would have placed new regulations on trash storage and collection. After a lengthy discussion in which council members expressed concerns about various parts of the ordinance, the decision was made to just trash the legislation and start over.

Let’s hope council members are true to their word about the starting over part. Because the alternative would leave Pueblo with a stinky mess.

Among other things, the now-canned ordinance would have required all Pueblo property owners to have trash collection service. That idea was, and is, a no-brainer.
