Colorado State Capitol on lockdown after shooting

UPDATED, 6:30 a.m. Friday: The Colorado state Capitol in Denver went on lockdown just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday after shots were fired on the building’s north side. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 2:30 p.m., according to Denver Police. No one was injured.

According to eyewitnesses, about nine or 10 shots were fired on the Capitol’s northside.

Crime scene tape blocked off the Capitol on Colfax and on Sherman Street north of the Capitol during the lockdown.

State. Rep. Dan Pabon, a Denver Democrat, witnessed the event from just 15 feet away. He posted on Facebook that there were two shooters.  “Craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Denver Police report that there was an arrest at the scene but it was for an unrelated matter. As of Friday morning, no suspects had been apprehended.
