The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: New Year brings new opportunity to valley

Exciting developments in and around the Grand Valley over the last four years evince the substantial progress a community can make when its leaders dare greatly.

“Daring greatly” – a sentiment coined by Theodore Roosevelt – is a theme the Sentinel editorial board has revisited annually since we first issued the call to local leaders on Jan. 1, 2014 “to imagine a vision for this community that involves something more than hunkering down and hoping the energy boom returns.”

Time and again, they’ve met the challenge, bringing forth new programs, projects and policies that are slowly but surely making the Grand Valley a more vibrant and more attractive place to live. Moreover, they’ve gotten voters to buy in to the idea – if only temporarily – that progress requires investment.
