FEEDBACK: Tank in Trump’s shadow; t’anks for the tax cuts

How’s Tom gonna win where Trump couldn’t?

I spent a lot of time in 2016 helping the Trump campaign.  We did OK. We crushed eastern Colorado. Heck, we even won Pueblo County!  But we lost Colorado by 5 points.  To Hillary.

So, riddle me this:

For those of you who think Tom Tancredo can win the governor’s race in Colorado, explain to me who is going to vote for Tom Tancredo who did not vote for Donald Trump?

I honestly can’t come up with a single group that refused to vote for Trump but will vote for Tom.  And let’s face it, Trump’s a master communicator who earned nearly unlimited media nationwide as a candidate. Tom has unlimited time on Peter Boyles’ show, but that’s about it.

Do you think the snooty, pinky-out rich Republicans who voted for McMuffin will suddenly come around to Tancredo? Please.

So who?  I’m waiting.

Hey, don’t get me wrong.  I’ll still vote for TT over Polis. I’d probably vote for him over Michael, maybe. But I think he’d lose bigly. More bigly than Trump.

Show me how I’m wrong.  Where are those 140,000 votes?

Tax reform will put money back in middle-class piggy banks

It’s been 31 years since we changed our tax code. The status quo was not working and we desperately needed to update our tax system. That’s why I commend Congressman Mike Coffman, Senator Cory Gardner, and the rest of Colorado’s Congressional delegation that voted for pro-growth tax reform legislation. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will help jumpstart our economy and finally put more money back in people’s pockets, rather than extracting ever more from them.

The new tax code will obviously boast a long list of beneficiaries, but topping the list will be Colorado’s middle-class families. They can expect to see tangible results early in the new year as tax rates immediately begin to fall. When it comes time to file their taxes in April, middle-class families will save about $2,000 on average. Many growing families will be happy to receive an increased child tax credit. The nearly doubled standard deduction means there will even be a considerable increase in households who won’t owe anything when they file their taxes.

This tax reform has been long in the making; I am glad to see we finally have a tax code that is appropriate to today’s business climate and economy. You may not hear too much about the positive aspects of this bill from the economically shortsighted who seem to dominate the airways and the online soundboards – but once you see your paycheck and file your taxes, its benefits will be inescapable.

THE PODIUM: It's time to make transportation a priority for our tax dollars

In the 20-year period since 1997 spanning three governorships – those of Bill Owens, Bill Ritter and John Hickenlooper – one governor stands out as proposing starvation budgets for Colorado’s state highways and roadways. That governor is John Hickenlooper. We are talking about each governor’s priorities for spending taxpayer dollars through the General Fund budget, […]
