Services for Colorado PERA’s Smith to be held Wednesday

A “Celebration of Life” service for Greg Smith, the executive director of the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. at the Glenmoor Country Club, 110 Glenmoor Drive, Englewood.

Smith, 56, died of a heart attack on December 12 while on a family vacation in Hawaii. PERA offices will be closed at 2:30 p.m. to allow staff to attend the service.

Smith had been at PERA since 2002, serving first as general counsel. He was promoted to executive director in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Laura; sons Williams and Austin; his mother, Judy Smith of Denver and a sister, Dana Smith of San Francisco, as well as an “extended family of in-laws, outlaws, nieces and nephews.”

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rotary Foundation are requested. Smith was a past president of the Denver Mile High Rotary Club.
