…and so does the dedication of Denver Republicans to keep helping in the hurricane’s aftermath. You’ll recall both Denver and Jefferson County Republican parties have mounted a donation drive to help the many Gulf Coast Texans waylaid by Hurricane Harvey. And the county GOPs have been shipping the donations of humanitarian aid to Texas themselves.

The Denver GOP offered this progress report on its relief effort over the weekend:

Our efforts to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey have been met with astounding success so far. We’ve sent two trucks to Houston, loaded with supplies.

In conjunction with Colorado Feeding Kids, we also loaded a truck with 56,160 meals and sent it off to Houston yesterday. That truck has been waylaid by SEVEN blown out tires, and its cargo is currently being moved by the Texas National Guard.

We’ve gathered and spent about $4,500 so far on supplies, and we’ve been in contact with the Harris County, Texas GOP and several local elected officials in Houston, making sure that we are getting them what they need.

And they do still need our help. Now, the focus is shifting away from immediate needs to the items needed to rebuild after this disaster.

Which means stuff like battery-operated Sawsalls; Sawsall blades; battery-operated Skill saws with spare blades; gloves; disposable face masks; square-nose shovels; pry bars; protective eyewear; push brooms; wheel barrels; hand sanitizer; ice chests; pump spray; bottles or spray bottles, and DEET repellent.

Adds the Denver GOP press announcement:

We have 2-3 more trucks leaving Colorado for Texas next week. We need your help to fill those trucks!

If you cannot spare the time to purchase and drop off items, the Denver Republican Party will be using  100% of all contributions between now and Sept 20th, 2017, to further relief efforts.
