EDITORIAL: Layne Pachl’s selfless gift offers an awesome example for all of us

In 2016, when Sandi Elder started her Facebook page called “Sandi Needs A Hero,” it was an act of desperation.

The former Greeley City Council member had tried to keep her illness private. Without going public, she’d tried to find a kidney donor who would be a match and save her life.

But the transplant list is crowded and the odds are long.

She turned to the community. There, she found exactly what she needed.
