The Loveland Reporter-Herald editorial: Better ways to bump a passenger
Investors, not to mention everyone on social media, let United Airlines know this week that the company was out of line Sunday night when one of its ticketed passengers was dragged off an airplane by his feet, his face bloodied, to make room for one of four United crew members who needed a ride to their next destination.
United’s stock dropped as much as 6.3 percent Tuesday, before leveling off at a 2.7 percent loss.
Though United Chief Executive Officer Oscar Munoz apologized Monday for “having to re-accommodate these customers,” his words rang hollow to many.
By Wednesday, Munoz said he felt shame over the incident and was offering full refunds to all passengers on the Chicago to Louisville, Ky., flight. “This will never happen again,” Munoz told ABC.
