Pueblo Chieftain editorial: Pinata bashing

We understand why some in the local Hispanic community are afraid of President Donald Trump and his ideas about immigration and deportation.

They’re especially afraid because it’s clear that the president intends to move swiftly on his campaign promises; they weren’t just a lot of talk.

So those who are afraid of families being separated because of deportation have reason to fear.

We understand why some in the local Hispanic community feel that they must strongly protest against Trump and his ideas.

Having said that, we think that the dozens of people who demonstrated last Friday at El Pueblo History Museum went too far when they bashed a pinata likeness of Trump.
