Editorial: Are you going to drive? Get some sleep

Poet Robert Frost wrote, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.”

Like Frost, many Americans go many miles to keep their obligations in life, and that may put them on the road when they are not refreshed enough to drive alertly.

But a study from the AAA Foundation, released in late 2016, points out that sleepy drivers present a serious danger on American roads.

The agency found missing one to two hours of sleep a night less than the recommended seven hours doubles a driver’s crash risk.
