DPS families have until June 4 to choose to continue remote learning for 2021-22
Denver Public School families and students have until June 4 to choose whether to return to in-class learning or remain online for the 2021-22 school year.
Parents and students wishing to continue remote learning next school year must complete a form on the parent portal or call their school’s office.
Those returning to full-time in-person learning do not have to fill out a form or call the office, according to a DPS release.
“We are ready to welcome students back to a more normal school year this fall, as there is no substitute for in-person learning and the interactive, hands-on experiences with teachers,” said Dwight Jones, DPS interim superintendent.
“We also know many families may not feel comfortable with in-person learning given the uncertainty of the health conditions in the fall, and have worked hard to provide a robust and engaging fully remote option.”
Those who enroll in remote learning will not be taught by teachers at their current schools, but will keep their assigned spot for the 2022-23 school year, according to the release.
Although remote learning is an option, officials are encouraging families of students with IEPs or 504 Plans to consult with the district to determine if remote learning is best for their student.
