Aurora police, Food Bank of the Rockies team up to provide food, resources for families

The Aurora Police Department, Food Bank of the Rockies, area school districts and several nonprofits are teaming up to provide 1,000 families with resources to last throughout the summer.

Food, baby supplies, pet food and summer activity packs will be distributed to the Aurora families at Overland High School at 12400 E. Jewell Ave. on June 5. The Summer Kick-Off event is free to all Aurora households, regardless of income, size or status, according to a release from the City of Aurora.

“This past year has stretched budgets and caused hardships across our community,” Claudine McDonald, community relations section chief executive for Aurora police said in the release. “Along with our community partners, the Aurora Police Department wants to make sure families have the resources they need for a successful start to the summer season.”

Participants will have two options to receive resources by either using the drive-thru or walking inside. Those who choose the drive-thru method are encouraged to stay in their vehicle, not park or leave, according to the release.

Anyone seeking additional information is encouraged to contact APDCommunity@auroragov.org or call 303-739-7281.
