Colorado to receive additional FEMA funding for COVID-19 response

The Federal Emergency Management Agency said Colorado will receive an additional $1.6 million to assist with the state’s COVID-19 response effort.

This additional funding will go to the state’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to assist in administering and managing public assistance awards, according to a release from FEMA.

Earlier this month, the agency announced an additional $108 million was awarded to Colorado.

Since the major disaster declaration was issued in March 2020, FEMA has provided $520.6 million to the state’s pandemic response effort.

The funds will cover work between Jan. 20, 2020, and Sept. 30, 2021, according to the release.

Additional information regarding FEMA’s Public Assistance program can be found at www.fema.gov/assistance/public.

COVID-19 vaccines are administered during a pop-up clinic at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs on Feb. 13.
