King Soopers starts offering rapid COVID-19 antibody tests at all pharmacy locations

King Soopers pharmacies announced Friday that the company is offering rapid COVID-19 antibody tests to customers.

The test is conduct by using a finger-prick blood sample that will reveal whether anti-bodies for the novel coronavirus are present within 15 minutes, said Jessica Trowbridge, a spokeswoman for the company.

Anyone who believe they previously had the virus and are symptom free are eligible for the test.

“Making rapid antibody testing available across our family of pharmacies will not only provide an affordable and convenient testing solution for individuals who want to understand if they have previously been infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, but also help clinicians understand the long-term impacts of COVID-19 and potential public health strategies for fighting the disease,”  said Michelle Izor, Director of Pharmacy for King Soopers and City Market.

The tests are supplied from Whitmire Medical began being available on Wednesday.

Trowbridge said it’s vital for the public to know that these tests are only for people who believe they previously had the virus, and not those currently experiencing symptoms.
