Now that the sniping between pro- and anti-Trump partisans has arrived even in letters to community newspapers, should we not be asking far more salient questions such as:

1) What were we doing in the Ukraine at all?

2) Why was the U.S. stoking the fires of conflict in Ukraine, a major arms-producing rump state, eight time zones away, by sending free weapons of destruction there, when President George H.W. Bush had promised avoidance?

3) Was it not the wisdom of the British Empire in the 18th Century (from the time of PM William Pitt the Younger, if not before) to “Never go to war over an East European cause”; or of the German Empire in the 19th century under Bismarck (“There is nothing in the Balkans worth the life of a single Pomeranian Grenadier”)? 

4) In a time of trillion-dollar deficits, why is the U.S. government pumping wads of borrowed and un-repayable money into virtually every nation on the planet?

(On entering Kyrgyzstan in 2017, I was amused to receive a glossy tourist guide booklet printed at U.S. Taxpayer expense.)

Rather, shouldn’t all Coloradans be asking why, and calling Sens. Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner to task for their financial profligacy?
