Eight days before the statewide general election, just over 11% of active voters have cast their ballots.

Monday was the last day to request a mail ballot. Beyond that, voters and prospective voters can still register and cast a ballot up to and including election day, a change the General Assembly enacted in 2013.

After today, the secretary of state’s office recommends that voters drop ballots off in person. 

Republicans continued to lead in the early returns, comprising 39% of voters thus far. Democratic and unaffiliated voters made up 29% and 30% of the total, respectively.

In 2017 and 2015, Republicans turnout exceeded that of other voter groups through election day.

Of all active voters in Colorado, 28.5% are Republicans, 30% are Democrats, and 40% are unaffiliated.

Because of inclement weather, Denver closed its mobile voting center and all drive-throughs outside of voter service polling centers. Las Animas County closed its clerk and recorder’s office, and El Paso and Custer counties closed some of their polling centers.
