The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: Impeachment is the ultimate wedge issue — with unpredictable results

Do you often worry about the optics of a situation or about transparency in your everyday life? Do you often pivot from one task to the other or seek to find out who’s complicit in the collusion you find in everyday life?

Of course not. Unless you are a politician, or self-important pundit who throw these terms around to sound intelligent and mysterious.

One term though, is more meaningful than most are aware. That’s the phrase “wedge issue” – used in political discussions as shorthand for issues or philosophies that divide people. There are certainly a lot of them now, like immigration, impeachment, the Second Amendment and collusion (whatever that has come to mean).
