The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: Much ado about BLM office space
The relocation of the Bureau of Land Management is so controversial that even its choice for office space in Grand Junction hasn’t escaped criticism.
The ink was barely dry on the lease agreement for office space at 760 Horizon Drive before Colorado Public Radio and the Washington Post pointed out that the BLM’s new headquarters shares the building with, among others, Chevron, Laramie Energy and the West Slope Colorado Oil and Gas Association.
Count us among those who think this is much ado about nothing. There simply aren’t that many options in Grand Junction that meet the federal government’s requirements for class A office space. The General Services Administration, which did the legwork of securing the space, wisely chose not to let some bad optics scuttle the BLM’s best option, which includes the bonus of close proximity to Grand Junction Regional Airport.
