Former Rep. Polly Lawrence to direct policy for international law firm

Former state Rep. Polly Lawrence will be putting her statehouse experience to good use as she joins the law firm of Dentons as its senior policy director.

Dentons bills itself as the world’s largest law firm, with about 10,000 lawyers in 151 offices in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, China and Africa.

Dentons said Lawrence would “provide counsel on Colorado’s state government affairs.”

Lawrence, a Republican from Roxborough Park, served in the Colorado General Assembly from 2013 to last January. She opted last year to run for state treasurer.

She served as assistant minority leader and the caucus whip during her legislative tenure.

Before that, Lawrence worked in private civil construction and infrastructure development and was a legislative liaison for the Colorado Contractors Association. She has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University.

“Polly worked on some of Colorado’s most poignant policy issues during her time as a state legislator,” said Eric Tanenblatt, global chair of Dentons’ public policy practice, in a statement. “Her experience broadens the firm’s state government affairs capabilities with special emphasis on the Denver market, which will be a huge benefit to clients.”
