The Pueblo Chieftain: A weighty problem

Perhaps this should come as no surprise in a community whose signature dish is a hamburger loaded up with chile and cheese, but Pueblo has a bit of a weight problem.

According to recent studies, the share of young people and adults who are carrying too many extra pounds rose from 2013 to 2017.

Specifically, the percentage of young people in Pueblo County classified as overweight or obese rose to 35.3 percent from 29.1 percent over that four-year time period. For comparison, the statewide percentages grew to 22 percent from 19.3 percent.
