The Pueblo Chieftain: Black Hills promotes economic development
As we’ve noted before, Black Hills Energy has been on a charm offensive lately. The South Dakota-based utility company has made some of its cutoff policies more customer friendly. And it has been cooperating with efforts to redevelop an important piece of Downtown property. And now Black Hills is using a discounted electric rate to try to lure new companies to town.
Black Hills officials appeared before the Public Utilities Commission last week, asking for an accelerated hearing schedule on the company’s plans to offer discounted electricity to an as-yet-unnamed data processing center that wants to locate in Pueblo this year.
The PUC agreed to consolidate some legal filings and send the case to an administrative law judge, with hopes that commissioners can make a ruling on the request at their April 10 meeting.
