The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel: Hanging Lake permits foreshadow the future

After talking for years about a plan to limit the number of people who can visit Hanging Lake in a single day, the Forest Service has finally made it official.

The final management plan approved by the agency limits users to 615 a day year-round “to protect resources, manage congestion, improve safety and visitor experience and continue to support local tourism,” the Forest Service said in a news release.

The agency is also implementing a shuttle system in lieu of parking at the trail head lot during peak visitation months.
