Republicans raise the $10K needed for Trump portrait at Capitol in less than 36 hours

What started out as something of an embarrassment has turned into a successful effort to raise the funds necessary to commission a portrait of President Donald Trump for the Colorado state Capitol’s Hall of President’s gallery.
In about 32 hours, a GoFundMe campaign set up by Colorado Senate President Kevin Grantham of Cañon City raised the $10,000 needed for the portrait, with 191 donors contributing to the effort. Grantham declared victory at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday night.
The campaign was launched after a prankster last week put a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin on an easel and placed it near the spot where the Trump portrait is expected to be hung.

As a result of the prank, it was revealed that in the 18 months since Trump was inaugurated, not one penny had been received in donations to Colorado Citizens for Culture for the cost of commissioning a portrait of Trump. Portraits are paid for by donations, not taxpayer dollars.
Grantham gave the first $100 to the campaign, and other notable Republicans also contributed, including Sen. Ray Scott of Grand Junction, former First Lady Frances Owens, political consultant Monica Beauprez, former state Sen. Scott Renfroe of Greeley; Tony Gagliardi, state director of the Colorado chapter of the National Federation of Independent business; and Reps. Alexander “Skinny” Winkler of Thornton and Judy Reyher of Swink.
Democratic Sen. Dan Pabon of Denver also contributed to the campaign.
We just received word.
Vladimir Putin was NOT happy to receive the news.
His portrait will never again be seen in the Colorado State Capitol, because we just FULLY FUNDED the commission of President @realDonaldTrump's portrait in less than 2 days. #COleg #COpolitics pic.twitter.com/Etu7YdWc2b
